Operating Rules of Popcorn Hostel
These rules apply to all visitors of Popcorn Hostel in Bucharest, covering all areas on the property, including access roads, parking spaces, gardens, and external areas. To enjoy the facilities of our accommodation, guests must accept these rules. If you disagree with any of these conditions, we kindly suggest finding an alternative location that meets your expectations.
Check-in/Check-out Policies
We strictly enforce the following check-in and check-out times. These hours are inflexible:
Check-In: After 2:00 PM
Check-Out: Before 11:00 AM

Hostel temperature
We aim to provide a comfortable stay for all our guests.
Our room temperatures are set to ensure maximum satisfaction:
Summer: 25°C
Winter: 21°C
While we understand individual preferences may vary, these temperatures are chosen based on overall guest comfort and following Romanian law.
Please note that neither guests nor staff are allowed to adjust these settings.

Property and Cancelation Policies
Guests may cancel their reservation free of charge up to 7 days before their scheduled arrival.
If a guest cancels within 7 days of their arrival, they will be charged the total price of the reservation.
Documents before self-check-in
A passport is mandatory for non-EU citizens, ID is for EU citizens, and no driver’s license is accepted.

If you upload a false document or altered data, or if the document is not clearly visible, we will consider that you intend to harm our accommodation unit, as a consequence, we will cancel your reservation!

Eviction Rights and Refusing Entry
The hostel enforces a strict policy to uphold the safety and comfort of all guests. We reserve the absolute right to refuse entry or evict any individual from the premises, including common areas, bathrooms, dormitories, balconies, hallways, and outdoor spaces, without compensation for any unutilized stay. Such actions may be taken if a guest is deemed undesirable, displays inappropriate or disruptive behavior that compromises the well-being, security, or peaceful experience of other guests, or fails to comply with the hostel’s operating rules.
The hostel staff holds the authority to cancel any guest’s reservation or deny entry without the obligation to provide an explanation. No refunds will be issued for evictions or cancellations under these circumstances. In the event of non-compliance, and if a guest does not leave the property willingly, we may involve our security service or local law enforcement to facilitate the eviction. This policy ensures we maintain the highest level of safety and security for everyone at the hostel.
We reserve the right to refuse accommodation to anyone who is visibly intoxicated, behaves rudely, or acts in a manner that could tarnish the hostel’s reputation or cause disturbance to other guests or the surrounding community.
Bed-Making Policy
Guests are responsible for making their beds during their stay. The black mattress covers on the beds are permanent and are washed monthly. It is strictly prohibited to sleep directly on these black covers.
Only the white bedding (sheets and pillowcases) is changed after each guest’s departure. One sheet should be placed over the mattress cover, while the other sheet should be tucked under the blanket. The pillowcase should be placed on the pillow.
Acceptance of Risks:
As a guest, you acknowledge and accept that using the hostel’s facilities (including, but not limited to, accommodation and relaxation areas) involves inherent risks. The hostel’s representatives will not be liable for any harm to your life, body, health, or property, except for damages directly resulting from their negligent actions as defined by law.
Parking:
The hostel management does not guarantee a permanent parking space during your stay. The absence of parking near the hostel does not constitute a reason for reservation cancellation or any action against the hostel.
Facility Use Limitations:
The hostel management may limit access to its facilities, in whole or part, for reasons such as technical failures, cleaning, or maintenance. In such cases, guests are not entitled to a reduction or refund of fees paid for the use of the hostel.
Accommodation of Persons with Disabilities:
Individuals with severe physical or mental disabilities, who are helpless or require supervision, are welcome to stay provided they do not disturb other guests or neighbors, create messes or unpleasant odors, or cause inconvenience to others, and only in the presence of adult caretakers.
Children and Pet Policy
Children under 16 years of age are not permitted on the hostel premises.
No pets are allowed on the property.
Smoking Policy:
Smoking is not allowed in rooms or public spaces; designated smoking areas are provided outside.
Shower Protocol
Ensure you have a towel and non-slip slippers when entering the shower.
Decent attire is mandatory, including in dormitories and hallways. Moving around the hostel with only a towel wrapped around the waist, without a shirt/tank top and pants is prohibited. It is required to cover body parts with a shirt or tank top and pants.
Avoiding Controversial Topics
To maintain a harmonious environment for all guests, we kindly request that discussions involving sensitive or divisive subjects such as politics, sexual orientation, religion, and COVID-related matters be avoided within the hostel premises.
Prohibited Items:
Entry with firearms, projectile-capable items, sharp/bladed weapons, blunt instruments, explosives, flammable substances, illegal drugs, chemicals, and toxic substances that pose health risks is strictly forbidden.
Liability for Personal Belongings:
Despite all precautions, the hostel assumes no responsibility for items forgotten, lost, or allegedly stolen within the premises.
Awareness of High-Risk Areas:
Be aware of areas with increased risks, such as stairs, hallways, and bathrooms, where the risk of slipping is high. Visitors must fully assume these risks.
Guest Liability for Damages:
Guests are responsible for damages caused by their behavior, including damages to third parties.
No Liability for Property Damage:
The hostel’s representatives are not liable for destruction or damage to your property within its premises.
Dispute Resolution:
Any dispute arising from the application of our policies will be attempted to be resolved amicably; if this is not possible it will fall under the jurisdiction of the court in Bucharest.
Policy Modification:
The hostel reserves the right to modify its policies without prior notice.
Legal Action:
The hostel reserves the right to take legal action to obtain compensation from any guest who does not comply with its operating rules.
Acknowledgment and Consent:
By staying at our hostel, you acknowledge and consent to these rules unconditionally.
